No stop in Hörbranz needed any more

Hörbranz is the motorway border crossing Lindau – Bregenz on the A14 — for many the entry into Vorarlberg on the way to Switzerland. A customs stop there is no longer needed to continue: with plates, journey number and MRN you pre-notify the truck, and the border crossing is recorded at the border customs office to Switzerland.

No JRN?

The JRN comes from the Swiss transport declaration (DTS) in Passar — usually your forwarder or customs agency in Switzerland creates it. We can also create the DTS for you. You can also start the pre-notification without a journey number and add it at the “Declarations on board” step — there you can ask us to create the DTS as well.

What changes

01With the end of the Laufzettel procedure — expected on 15 September 2026 according to the BMF — there is no prescribed customs stop on the way through Vorarlberg any more, neither in Hörbranz nor in Wolfurt. The pre-notification replaces it.
02Licence plate recognition on the A14 near Hörbranz can report the truck’s arrival in Vorarlberg. It is not guaranteed — traffic and weather.
03Without a valid digital pre-notification a vehicle is turned away at the transit customs office. With a pre-notification it drives through without stopping.

Your forwarder stays your forwarder

Nothing changes on the Swiss side: the export or transit declaration and the transport declaration in Passar with the journey number still come from your forwarder or customs agent. What goes away is the stop at customs. The Austrian pre-notification you do yourself — in two minutes, with us as the registered declarant.
